Stuart is an experienced Family Law and Estate Litigation lawyer at our Vancouver office.

With a vast background in both litigation and settlements in the family law and estate litigation realms, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his practice and for his clients.

Stuart completed an undergraduate degree at UBC in Religious History, achieving membership into the Golden Key Society in his second year for academic performance.  Stuart toyed with the idea of furthering his education with a Masters in Fine Arts, as one of his life-long passions has been creative writing, but ultimately put that aside and applied to law school.

After law school, he articled at a small, full-service firm in Surrey, BC, where he was ultimately hired as an associate, working together with just 2 other family law lawyers where he began to hone his practice, thrown into the deep-end of family law with strong, yet minimal support.

As a sole practitioner, Stuart successfully ran multi-week trials in both family and estate law, at Provincial and Supreme Court levels, cementing his current devotion in those areas.

Two of his most successful trials were obtaining: a) access rights for a father falsely accused of abusing his child; and b) a generous award in a Wills Variation claim for a common-law spouse against her step-children who fought her at every turn

APPROACH

Stuart is calm, even-tempered and moderate.  Unphased by difficult situations, he looks for a solution in the sometimes-volatile civil litigation environment.  Conversely, Stuart works tirelessly for his clients, demanding the best outcome for them.

This general temperament has served Stuart well as a family law lawyer.  He meets clients everyday who are varied, unique, often having the worst day of their life, and are looking for someone to not only help them, but to understand them as well.

Having experienced a separation himself after a long-term relationship, Stuart has gained an added level of empathy and understanding which only benefits him as he continues his career assisting others in the same predicament.

His legal career began as an articled student in Surrey, BC and within 3 years was running a successful solo practice with an emphasis in family, estate and personal injury litigation.  He has also self-published 2 novels, and created/taught a bespoke curriculum for non-English speaking employees of an international shipping company in Bangkok.
