Canadian Status Applications
PR Card Renewals
Permanent residents must have a valid permanent resident card (PR card) to return to Canada by plane, train, bus or boat. If your card expires, you will have to apply for a new one. You are still a permanent resident if your card expires. To renew it, you have to show physical residency in Canada for two out of last five years. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule. For example, if you are married to a Canadian citizen and you are traveling abroad, those days could count toward your residency if you are accompanying your spouse, but these are for permanent residents.
PR Travel Documents
If a permanent resident does not have a valid PR card and needs to enter Canada, they may be eligible to apply for a permanent resident travel document. A permanent resident may only apply for a PR card from inside of Canada. The PR Travel document is often necessary to facilitate entry to Canada.
Citizenship Applications
Canadian citizenship is obtained automatically by being born in Canada, or by descent where a parent is a first-generation Canadian citizen. As for the permanent residents, citizenship may be applied for after living in Canada for a specified residency period. Canadian citizenship carries certain privileges that are not enjoyed by permanent residents, such as the right to vote in elections, and the ability to obtain a Canadian passport.
| Citizenship Applications | |
|---|---|
| Adults | $ 3,000 |
| Minors | $ 3,000 |

Employer services
Labour Market Impact Assessments
When a Canadian employer wants to hire a foreign worker, they must go through a two-step process in order to receive a Canadian work permit. First, the Employer must apply to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) for a Labor Market Impact Assessment, followed by a second application submitted by the foreign worker to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for the actual work permit. The LMIA is issued by ESDC who, after considering numerous protective labour market factors, authorizes the Canadian employer to hire a foreign worker. This program is designed to help employers fill temporary skill and labour shortages.
| Labour Market Impact Assessments for Employers | |
|---|---|
| Labour Market Impact Assessment | $ 6,200 |
| Compliance Reports | $ 3,500 |
Employer Compliance & Inspections
Once the work permit has been issued, the employer may be chosen for an inspection or compliance review at any time for up to six years. They need to make sure that they have kept a complete record of the relevant documents and have complied with all the requirements.
