Abib is a managing partner, practice leader and a family law lawyer at our Vancouver office.

Confidence, is the first impression you will have of Abib Ngom, our Vancouver Family & Divorce Lawyer. Confidence is one of the most important qualities a family lawyer can have to win at negotiations, settlements and most importantly the Court. This quality in Abib shines through the moment you meet him and carries itself in to the Court room which Abib has been to hundreds of times, and which he wins in, over and over again.

He has been successful counsel on several groundbreaking family law cases including:

  • Bakker v. Bakker: on International Child Abduction: Abib was successful in reuniting a New Zealand father with his child after his former spouse had wrongfully retained their child in Canada. Notably, it was the first decision to clearly apply the concept of “Anticipatory Retention” in a Canadian Court.
  • Storey v. Terry: Successful counsel at the BC Court of Appeal on division of property and the concept of ‘significant unfairness’ when it comes to family debts.
  • S.Z.M. v. K.M.N: Successful on the return of a child to the care of his father after the mother wrongfully removed him to another city.
  • Kerslake v. Kerslake:  Successful Alberta Court of Appeal case overturning an interim decision of a lower court judge.
  • Family Law Relocation: Successful in preventing a relocation of a parent with the children to a new city and obtained retroactive and ongoing support for several years.
  • Family Law Relocation: Abib was retained one week prior to an important trial on relocation or moving with a child in which he was the successful counsel.
