Andrew is a family law lawyer at our Vancouver office.

Andrew has extensive experience working in all types of family law cases. Andrew has conducted Supreme Court and Provincial Court family trials and applications, mediated and resolved cases involving contested issues of guardianship and parenting responsibilities, contested paternity issues, property division, child and spousal support and other issues. He has successfully advocated in cases involving the Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program.

Andrew graduated from the law school of the University of British Columbia in 2010, articled and worked in a full-service firm (civil litigation, corporate/commercial, family, wills and estates) in the Comox Valley of Vancouver Island until 2013, then worked in criminal defence with a focus on extraditions, and other areas.

Over the past five years, in addition to his family law practice, Andrew has developed significant experience in insurance defence, managing a large caseload of personal injury files. He has successfully mediated and negotiated numerous claims, with extensive involvement in trial preparation, examinations, applications, and Supreme Court proceedings.

Andrew is particularly proud of the many cases he has helped resolve—partially or entirely—through the consent of all parties, across family law, civil litigation, and other areas. He recognizes that effectively organizing and presenting the facts is key to achieving meaningful resolution.

Andrew studied the Greek and Latin classics as an undergraduate and enjoyed a varied pre-law career.

APPROACH

Andrew recognizes the importance of his clients’ matters, respects others’ time and resources, and approaches the practice of law as a service. He helps clients understand and navigate complex processes, even in the face of uncertainty and imperfect information.

Andrew recognizes the importance of legal issues to his clients and to their families. He respects how challenging it can be to navigate the process. He is proud to represent his clients and eager to ensure that they feel supported and empowered throughout the process and that they are kept informed each step of the way.

Andrew loves to help others to understand their situations and to help with the satisfactory resolution of their cases. Andrew does all he can to help clients reach resolutions that will help their interests in the long term.

Andrew would like to be known as a good listener, a quick learner and as an effective service provider who is attentive to detail.

Andrew has been developing his interest in negotiation and mediation since he and a partner won a negotiation competition in the second year of law school. He advocates in all types of court proceedings with experience, confidence, effective preparation and attention to detail.

Andrew has had the privilege of providing services, in addition to his private clients, to Legal Aid clients and pro bono, throughout his career. He has served on local volunteer boards and done other volunteer work for many years.
