The Story of The Split

Hello, my name is Leena Yousefi and I am the founder of YLaw, the largest family law firm in Western Canada. We are known as innovators within and outside of the legal profession, and one of our areas of focus is actually putting the client at the center and providing them with what they need at low or no cost instead of being solely focused on profits.

Divorce can cost fortunes, and those fortunes are better spent on your children or your future instead of lawyers. I want to help you save on legal costs (ironic I know).

Divorce can also feel extremely stressful, urgent and confusing. I want to help you get answers quick and have some clarity at the start of your journey without having to wait.

The Problem with Family Law Lawyers and Clients

I have been practicing family law for well over a decade and the one thing that bothered me was why clients had to spend several hundreds of dollars for a consultation just to get a general overview of how much they owe and what much they should receive. This should have been automated a long time ago. Even lawyers don’t want to do this – they want to utilize their talents on better and bigger things.

The other thing that bothered me was why clients would have to wait days or weeks to get an appointment with a lawyer to discuss their case when they are going through crisis need answers immediately.

The Solution

In 2022, I started devoting my time and resources on developing the Split. I and my partners wrote its logic based on BC family law. I fully and exclusively funded the development of the Split as I wanted to better our client’s lives in my own way. Believe it or not, there is no ‘catch’.

We spent over 1.5 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop the Split and believe it is as accurate as it could get but if things were as simple as what this software provides, lawyers and courts wouldn’t exist.
