Ashley was drawn to family law to help support families through difficult circumstances with competence and compassion. She assists clients in resolving their issues expeditiously while helping to minimize unnecessary conflict. Her main priority is obtaining favourable results that will benefit her clients in the present and maintain the whole family’s long-term well-being.

Ashley has practised family law exclusively since she was called to the bar. She handles complex family matters, including child support, spousal support, property and asset division, parenting time allocation, and relocation. Additionally, she has extensive experience preparing separation and cohabitation agreements.

APPROACH

Ashley understands that family disputes have a large emotional impact on the parties involved. Clients sometimes feel like they have “lost control” over their lives. Ashley strives to help her clients regain control by ensuring they fully understand their legal position and options for moving forward. Ashley wants her clients to feel empowered to make informed decisions, so they understand the legal process. To that end, she collaborates directly with each client to develop a personalized strategy to achieve the best possible outcome for both the client and their family.

Ashley strongly encourages parties to settle outside the courtroom through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration. She has learned that this path tends to be the most effective at reducing legal fees, family conflict, and uncertainty. It also allows parties to take part in crafting an outcome that they are content to live with for years to come. That said, Ashley can recognize when it is necessary to advance her client’s interests in court and is always prepared to do so.
