Harleen Johal
Articling Student | Langley

Harleen has joined YLaw as an articling student, after completing her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Birmingham in England. As the first in her family to pursue a legal career, and the first to move abroad, she faced challenges that pushed her independence and adaptability in ways she hadn’t expected. Those experiences now shape her approach to both her work and her relationships with clients.

After earning her degree, Harleen returned home to British Columbia and obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation. She began her legal career as a legal assistant, gaining experience in corporate law and civil litigation. In those roles, she strengthened her legal research, drafting, and client-support skills, and built a strong foundation in procedure and analysis that continues to inform her practice today.

While she valued her corporate and litigation experience, Harleen was ultimately drawn to areas of law rooted in human relationships. She believes supporting clients through emotionally challenging circumstances is meaningful work, work that requires patience, empathy, and clear communication.

Fluent in both English and Punjabi, Harleen is committed to serving clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and ensuring they feel understood and supported at every stage of the legal process.

APPROACH

Harleen believes every client deserves to be genuinely heard, and that meaningful representation starts with understanding the unique circumstances behind each file. To her, effective advocacy is equal parts legal expertise and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a way clients can easily understand. She aims to provide compassionate, strategic, and tailored advice while guiding clients through each step of the legal process with clarity and transparency.
