Leena Yousefi was successful counsel on the appeal of a very complicated international, high net worth family law case. Her client was ordered to produce documents which infringed on her right to privacy. She appealed the lower court's decision and was successful.
As per the BC Court of Appeal:
The appellants appeal an order granting letters of request issued by a California Court, compelling them to attend discovery and produce documents in BC. Held: Appeal allowed, application dismissed. The judge failed to meaningfully consider the relevance of the proposed discovery to the California Action. The sought‑after discovery was not shown to be relevant to the California Action.
